Tell Chris Abele: No Transit Cuts!Join us at the County Courthouse
There's a transit crisis brewing in Milwaukee County.
We're in danger of losing critical bus service. Many of the planned cuts in routes and schedules will fall heaviest on people of color and lower-income communities. County Executive Chris Abele also wants to make cuts in transit worker benefits that would mean poorer-quality healthcare – despite costing workers and retirees up to thousands of dollars more every year. And he says the cuts to service will be even deeper if workers don't accept less in benefits. We reject Abele's attempt to “divide and conquer” bus riders and transit workers by pitting us against each other. So do community organizations and activists across Milwaukee County. Join us for a public briefing on these issues Wednesday, May 8 at 8 a.m. at the Milwaukee County Courthouse. Then join us at 9 a.m. for the meeting of the Milwaukee County Board's committee on transit, where the MCTS budget, service cuts and contract negotiations with ATU 998 will be on the agenda. |
