Abele's Proposed Health Care Cuts
Would Cost Transit Workers Thousands
Of Dollars Every Year. We Say No.
Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele wants to cut health-care benefits for transit workers as part of a new labor agreement. He is trying to pit transit workers against transit riders, saying that unless drivers accept cuts, Milwaukee County Transit System will be forced to make deep, painful service cuts.
It's simply not true.
Abele's trying to "divide and conquer" Milwaukee County the way notorious former Gov. Scott Walker tried to carve up state employees. His cutbacks would affect all riders but fall heaviest on our communities of color, where buses provide services crucial to people's lives.
We have to stand together to resist Abele's plans and provide Milwaukee with better transit for all
Transit workers deserve to keep their benefits, and a modest pay raise to make up for the years salaries have remained stagnant.
And we all need to stand together to build better transit for everyone.
